Elizabeth’s Profile
I am a devoted Christ follower who loves to help people grow in their spiritual lives. I’m a musician who has spent many years in worship ministry. And I’m a teacher who is energized by encouraging and equipping others. My creativity delights in creating and designing beautiful and meaningful things. DeeperDevotion has taken shape to weave these gifts together. It blends worship arts and spiritual formation as areas that naturally fit together in the life of a growing Christian–and in the life of a growing church.
Personal History
I’ve been living in The Netherlands since 1996 when I arrived from Canada (as Elizabeth Hyatt) to work in church planting with Christian Associates International. I worked with CAI until August 2005, first as the director of the arts teams at Crossroads International Church of Amsterdam, and later as an equipper in worship arts on a European scale. I am active in Crossroads’ leadership along with my husband, Gérard.
I have a Masters of Music degree in performance and pedagogy and am currently 1 course away from completing a Master of Divinity with a specialty in Spiritual Formation. My day job of working with 7-year olds at the International School of Amsterdam keep Gérard and I smiling with dinnertime stories. When we get away, we love to head to the great outdoors, with our top picks being Canada and Sweden.
Location
From my home in Amsterdam most of Europe is readily accessible. Southern Ontario, Canada is also a frequent place of ministry due to family visits and finishing off my Master of Divinity degree.
Style of Facilitating
My educational training taught me that we learn best in an active environment of inquiry. My preferred mode of teaching is a workshop setting which incorporates lots of discussion and hands-on, multi-sensory learning. I endeavour to challenge the head and to stir the heart while facilitating a motivating and inspiring experience.
